ANXIETY
Anxiety can be convincing. You don’t have to follow its lead.
Anxiety can make it feel like you need to think everything through, prepare for every possibility, and get it all right before you can move forward. Yet the more you work to feel certain, the harder it can become to trust yourself. Thoughts feel urgent, uncomfortable feelings seem like warnings, and you might find yourself wondering, “Why can’t I just handle this?” We can approach these patterns with curiosity and compassion while helping you find a different way forward.
More trust in yourself. More room for what matters.
Together, we’ll practice responding to anxiety in ways that give you more choice. Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), we’ll help you get less tangled in anxious thoughts and clearer about what matters to you. Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) can help you gradually approach situations you’ve been avoiding and loosen habits like overpreparing, checking, or seeking reassurance. At a pace we decide together, you can build experience with a different possibility: “I can feel anxious, face uncertainty, and still take the next step.”
My work is trauma-informed, and when past experiences need attention, we may also draw on EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to process those experiences and better understand the parts of you that work hard to protect you.
